FROM SNOW SHOWERS TO SPRING FLOWERS AT BRIDGEWAY!

By Carole Haas, Executive Director

irst and foremost, I want to sincerely thank all of you who supported and helped with the spring fundraiser.   It was a challenging week including a blizzard, driveways piled with snow, trees falling down, and the beginning of the war.   Outside it didn't look anything like the first day of spring.   Inside it was beautiful, lighthearted, and fun.   I would especially like to thank the co-chairwomen of the event, Kristi Nichols and Patty Moser, and a special thank you goes to dear Des for her candid comments on life at Bridgeway.   It was a great night!   It means so much to us that so many attended, volunteered, donated items, and gave their support.   You are the best!

We do it all to help those in need.   Awhile ago, we had a young woman who had at one time lived in an abandoned building.   She had already been interviewed and was on our waiting list.   She went into labor early.   Her baby chose not to wait until things were perfect.   The hospital called us, the timing was right, and we were able to take her and her beautiful baby from the hospital.   Your support makes this possible.

I would also like to share a letter with you, which will help you understand what we are trying to do:

“ To all the MARVELOUS staff at Bridgeway:

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel towards all the women, including the house moms, at Bridgeway.   You have done, and continue to do, such wonderful things for my daughter in her time of special needs.   It truly has been a blessing.   When I first found out that she was pregnant, I felt the situation was futile.   I had no idea of what to do or where to go.   I was so frustrated and upset I couldn't see the forest for the trees.   You have given me new found hope for my daughter and her future.   Bridgeway has been a stepping stone for her, and I know you will be instrumental in her success.   She does not realize this yet, but someday she will.

Thank you, everyone, for being so kind, gentle, caring, loving, understanding, giving and strong, not only for my daughter but for all the girls you have helped throughout time.   And thanks to all the people who donate their time, money and resources to these very special girls.   I only hope to be able to repay you somehow, someday.”
