The year is flying by as I take a moment to reflect on all that has happened this year. We have had amazing support from so many of you for our fundraiser in addition to your ongoing support. So many scared young women came to us and began taking steps to a better and more self sufficient life. Several former residents joined us at the 2005 Danskin Women's Triathlon to attempt to do something else that they never had considered being able to accomplish. We had many beautiful babies born. These children are always such a special gift and you can see the wonder of the world in their eyes. Our daycare helped our babies get a great start in life. It gives our moms peace of mind to know their babies are in good hands while they go to school and work.
The former resident Christmas party is around the corner. It is difficult to explain the joy, excitement, and chaos of this event if you have never been there. Last year we had about 250 moms and children that we provided gifts for thanks to all of you. It is such a big part of the continuity at Bridgeway.
These young families are now part of the bigger Bridgeway family and we welcome them for the holidays with open arms. We want them to feel the love and know that they are important. I know that the gifts they receive mean so much to them because it isn't always easy to make dollars stretch through the holidays for children's gifts. The moms feel special that they also get something. I think one of the favorites, though, of both moms and children is the Santa Secret shop. This is where children can go in and get a surprise gift for their mom. The kids feel so special and mom is so happy to receive something that her child has chosen just for her.
All of us at Bridgeway wish you and your families a very blessed holiday season. We realize that sometimes it is a difficult time of the year for many especially if you have suffered a loss this year. We want you to know that each of you is also a part of our Bridgeway family and we will hold you close in our thoughts and prayers.
