Amazing things have happened this past summer! A very young girl, named Julia Simpkins, decided in 2005 that she would like her family and friends to give to Bridgeway, instead of her, for her birthday. The result was a wonderful outpouring of gifts for the moms and babies of Bridgeway. When she brought the gifts, we thought "what an incredible young lady," and never expected to see her again. Imagine our surprise when she chose to do the same thing in 2006. She turned 9 this year and when she brought the gifts to the office you would have thought that she had received the best present in the world. What a sweet young lady!

There are many youths in our community who are busy helping other people and we are blessed that several of them choose to help the moms and babies of Bridgeway. A young person called to see if Bridgeway could use the extra vegetables from the family’s garden, which they could not consume. Of course we said "yes!" and the residents enjoyed an unexpected treat of fresh vegetables straight from their garden. Two other young ladies chose to make Bridgeway their Girl Scout Gold Award project.

The Fall is a season of sharing traditions with the residents. The Downtown Kiwanis Club has once again helped us purchase pumpkins for our second annual Halloween party at the Bridgeway house. This night encourages the residents to relax and enjoy their babies, talk with the volunteers who help with the party, and spend a fun evening with the other residents. We end the holiday season with the wonderful Christmas party hosted again by the Knights of Columbus.
As we enjoy the Fall weather and prepare for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, it is good to look back and think about the volunteers, young and old, who have helped us so much. If you have a new volunteer or fundraising idea, or would like to share your time and talents, call our office at (303) 969-0515. We can use your assistance in the office or with the upcoming Bridgeway to Hope Benefit in February 2007.
| Many thanks to long time Board member, Sherry Zoltay, who will be completing her time of service at Bridgeway the end of this year. She and her husband, Ed, have been an amazing support to us including our Color Notes Program, fundraising chairs, producing the newsletter, teaching classes at the house, and always ready, willing, and able to assist with any project we have needed help with. They will be missed, but we do thank them from the bottom of our hearts, and still hope to see them around whenever they have more time. |
