SPEECHES FROM THE HEART - FORMER RESIDENTS SAY IT BEST!

By Carole Haas, Executive Director

We often remind everyone that Bridgeway helps change 2 lives.   That point was brought home even more clearly when one of the former residents that spoke at the fundraiser was 16 year old Monique.   She was a Bridgeway baby!   Her mother had lived at Bridgeway when she was born.   As Monique pointed out, she came into this world to a place where she felt loved and safe.   She still thinks of Bridgeway that way.   She is now a successful high school student that gets excellent grades, plays rugby, and is looking forward to a bright future.   Her mother has been an outstanding parent that has guided her daughter and helped her learn from mistakes that she had made.

The other speaker was Eve.   She was a pregnant teen 16 years ago and told a powerful story of what an impact Bridgway had on her.   She is now in a management position at Subway, happily married, and her son, born at Bridgeway, is an incredible young man that not only gets good grades and is a star on the wrestling team, but also is helpful and caring to all he meets.   At the fundraiser, Eve wanted to help us and bring home something special for her family.   She began bidding on a signed John Elway football.   She was outbid, but after the bidding stopped, Mike McGuire, who was the highest bidder, presented her with the football.   It was such a special moment.

It is my hope that you can understand what an impact your help has on the many young lives that are touched by it.   The fundraiser was very successful, thanks to so many that donated, planned, and volunteered.   "Thank you" seems so small for all that I feel.   I want you to know that you are most definitely impacting lives!   We can not help so many without your help.   Know absolutely that you are making a difference and that we could not do it without you.
