Spring 2006 Bridgeway Newsletter

A Time of Hope and New Beginnings

By Carole Haas, Executive Director

Springtime in the Rockies!  Not only do new babies come, but also young women are starting a new exciting life journey.  One of my favorite aspects of Bridgeway is that hope is in the air.  I like it when young women realize they can be something more than they originally thought.  They come from so many different backgrounds and levels of social skills.  I often compare it to filling a well with good things.  When we can do that, they begin to fill up emotionally and take charge of their lives and the lives of their children.  They realize that they too can give back to the world.  They start the process of being empowered to become self sufficient.

We have so many to thank in this newsletter.  I can not begin to express my appreciation to the staff and volunteers who put so many hours into making the fundraiser absolutely amazing.  In addition, so many people donated wonderful items and others purchased those items so that our fundraiser was not only very successful, but incredibly fun, too!  All of you have absolutely blessed our world.

The fundraiser came at a wonderful time as we were recently told that we lost some funding from HUD which we were expecting to use in the next year.  I know that there are many disasters across the country--including people without homes--and the money is needed to help everyone.  We will have our challenges this year to try and replace some of those funds.  Thanks for standing by us and being there for us.  I hope you know that it REALLY does mean more than you will ever know to have your help.
