VOLUNTEER CORNER

By Mary Ann Forman
Director of Volunteers

So much has happened since the last time I wrote an article for the newsletter, I am not sure where to start.   Once again, many, many people have gone above and beyond in their giving and assistance to Bridgeway.

Thanksgiving was truly a time to be thankful for wonderful volunteers who care about the young moms and babies of Bridgeway.   Jaime, our very own Christmas Elf, started early with the help of volunteers organizing gifts, food, location, and entertainment for the BIG party for Christmas.   This was no small task, organizing a party for over 200 moms and their children, making sure everyone had special gifts, plenty of food, fun things to do like face painting, Santa’s Secret Shop, visiting Santa, as well as time to catch up with old friends.

It was heartwarming to see the familiar faces of former residents and to see how much their children have grown.   The party was again held at the Knights of Columbus Council #4844 hall, and with the men of the Knights helping with set up and general crowd control, as well as the Women’s Auxiliary providing delicious and nutritious food, the event was a resounding success.   With all of the gifts being provided by generous donors from local Churches, service organizations such as Kiwanis Clubs, Knights of Columbus organizations, Optimist Clubs, etc., and individuals, everyone felt very loved and pampered.   Many thanks to everyone who had a part in this awesome event!

We are now getting ready for our fundraiser on February 25, and I hope you will be able to attend.   If you would like to volunteer your time, energy, and talents to this fun event, please call the office at 303-969-0515, and we will put you in touch with the appropriate chair person.

Our next volunteer orientation will be held on January 22, 2005, so please call me at the office at 303-969-0515 if you would like to be a part of Bridgeway’s volunteer corps and make a difference in the lives of young women and their children.
